Tracking trash and How sugar changed the world reflection
If you haven't heard bout these books before in your life. Don't worry. Use your common sense. One is about trash and the other is about sugar. Our class was unevenly divided and had to do a presentation on these books. My group did a presentation on Tracking Trash. This was short book containing only five chapters. This was about trash in the ocean and the technology some scientists used to track these pieces of trash. It all started with a container aboard a ship in 1990, that was filled with sneakers. Since it was filled an closed shut, it floated, making it a difficult obstacle for sailers all around the world. Later, scientists were able to see the movement of the ocean in real time. Eventually, they were able to track the container. While doing this (I think, not 100% accurate) some scientists found big masses of trash in the ocean. This turned out to be ghost nets. These things can trap marine animals severely and suffocate them to death. As seen in the picture below.
Next is How Sugar Changed The World. This was a longer book. Although it had four chapters, there were sections within those chapters. Not sure how many though because I didn't read that one.
huntington library reflection
On Wednesday, March 15, 2017 my class and I went on a field trip to the Huntington Library. There were two pieces of art that I thought were pretty interesting. The first one is called Blue Boy by Thomas Gainsborough. The tour guid said that Thomas probably didn't want that to be the name of the painting. It was just spread around by some people who stepped into his workshop one day and saw the amazing amounts of blue on the boy. This painting was very interesting to me because if you look at the painting it's almost like he doesn't belong there. His suit is very shiny while the background is very dark and gloomy. Another work of art that I liked was a statue of Diana. Now, all the rest of the Greek statues this one is nude. If you don't the reason as to why all the Greek statues are always nude, it is because they feel that the human body is already perfect. So, you don't need clothes. Now, I'm not saying you should go somewhere naked the next day. Please don't do that. On to the reason why I liked this statue, this was able to tell me a lot about the person. The statue was holding an arrow telling me it was a huntress.
The best thing I liked at the Huntington Library was the Japanese garden. This garden was very beautiful. Only thing is, they built this bridge but we are not allowed to cross it which kind of sucks in my opinion. By he way, if you guys have been keeping up with my blogs you will notice I mention anime in some of them, and anime come from Japan. So, when I heard that there was a Japanese garden I had very high expectations for it and it met it. The place was just spectacular. Plus they even had a Japanese style home all the way in the back.
Harrison bergeron
In this short story, Harrison Bergeron, by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. tells of a fourteen-year-old boy named Harrison Bergeron. The setting is 2081, in the United States and everyone is created equal in any possible way. From, looking handsome to totally ugly, from beautiful to horrifying, from a nice voice to a stutter, etc. Harrison's mother, Hazel, was stupid and dumb. She forgets easily and takes everything seriously. The father, George, however, was smart and strong. Since everyone was supposed to be equal, the government made him wear a headset that would play random noises every twenty seconds to distract his thoughts. He also had to wear weights that would make him weaker. Now, Harrison. Harrison was taken into jail, because he was just too perfect . He absolutely despised the government for the equality law they set up. So, he broke out of jail and destroyed all the weights, masks, headsets, anything that makes people who they aren't.

The intensity within the cell grew so fast that neither of them could hold in. They started to fight. Lunging at one another with full force again and again and again. The second cell member turned out to be bewitched . He started casting spell after spell and eventually broke the iron bars of the cell. They both hastily ran towards the exit leading to the open world. There, they were stopped immediately by that hero. Getting ready for the final show off. Two against one, a fight to the death.

Greek world view essay
The Greek view of the world both resembles and differs from the modern day view of the world. Let's see why. First we will see how the views are similar to each other. The Greek view contains some continents we have on our world view today. The continents include, Europe and Asia. Now let's see the differences. First things first, they thought the world was flat. I mean you've probably heard this already that all people back in the old days thought the world was flat. That is until we flew into space and saw that it was actually round. The world view today also contains more continents. The way the continents were placed on the maps were also different. Therefore, even though the views have some similarities, they are actually quite different.
the gift of the Magi by O'henry
The short story, The Gift of the Magi, by O'Henry is about a husband and wife who go from one of the richest families in the country, to one of the poorest. All they had left was one dollar and eighty-seven cents. It was almost Christmas eve. Della wanted to buy a present for her husband Jim. However, she knew she could not buy anything with a dollar. Then, one day she had an idea. Her hair was one of the most prized possessions in the house. Her hair was up to her knees! It was almost like a dress for herself. She decided to cut her hair off and sell it. From this she was able to obtain twenty dollars! Now she was able to buy Jim a nice Christmas present. She bought a platinum fob chain for Jim's watch.
As for Jim his watch was the other prized possession in their house. He also wanted to buy a present for Della. So, he sold his watch and got combs for Della's hair.
The magi were wise men who brought gifts to the Babe in the manger. They invented the art of giving Christmas presents. Being wise, their gifts were no doubt wise ones, possibly bearing the privilege of exchange in case of duplication. And here I have lamely related to you the uneventful chronicle of two foolish children in a flat who most unwisely sacrificed for each other the greatest treasures of their house. But in a last word to the wise of days let it be said that of all who give gifts these two were the wisest. O all who give and receive gifts, such as they are the wisest. Everywhere they are the wisest. They are the magi "(O'Henry 5).

Pearl buying recreated (The Pearl by John steinback)
As Kino entered the room he could see that the office was very dim. "I have a pearl ," said Kino. Juan Tomas stood behind him and snorted at the understatement. "Well, usually people bring in a dozen, but with all the rumors going up and about this "Pearl of the World" I will see this pearl of yours to see just how good it is." Now Kino slowly took out his leather bag, then he slowly took the deer skin that held the pearl , and let loose the pearl. The pearl rolled onto the tray. Kino immediately looked at the pearl buyer's face to see that he was quite shocked. "Wow!" exclaimed the pearl buyer. "I've never see anything like it. It is very shiny indeed, it has nice curvy edges, and will definitely be worth selling for. So, how much are we looking at." Kino thought for awhile. "Fifty thousand pesos." The pearl buyer wasn't sure about the offer. He couldn't afford to lose such a pearl. "It's a deal said." said the pearl buyer. The pearl was traded and kino was able to get his money.
most unusual car crash
Tallahassee, Fla. - There has been a recent car accident involving a very unusual victim. We were able to get an interview with Jessica Tradwell, the driver. We asked about her condition and she said that she is a bit shaken up. She was scared from the moment it happened. Jessica says she was driving a Mazda 626 down 13th street. She was driving slow and was paying attention to what was on the road, when all of a sudden, she heard a THUMP. When she got out of the car she saw a zebra lying down. Jessica says that she did not see any blood. However, she then started to notice that the zebra's leg was twitching. That is when she decided to call 911.
The zebra appears to be owned by a certain George Dowling. We were able to interview him at his house, talking about how the zebra escaped. According to Mr. Dowling, "I just came out to feed ZigZag. I thought I latched the gate, but when I bent over to pour the food, I heard the gate bang open and he ran." When we told him that it is illegal to keep a Zebra as a pet in Tallahassee, he changed his attitude and started to kick us out. "No. Wait. What? ZigZag isn't a pet. I mean he isn't my pet."
ZigZag appears to be doing well. He was treated by Dr. Mark Hardt, a veterinarian who is mostly trained to treat dogs and cats. Dr. Hardt confirmed to us that he received ZigZag yesterday afternoon. He was a little bit surprised because he has never treated a zebra before. Luckily he was able to treat it. When asked about ZigZag's condition, Dr. Hardt replied, "Well, he's had a rough night, but he is stable. Finally sleeping well." The doctor further said that the zebra had some internal bruising and a broken hind leg. We also asked if the zebra will be returning to Mr. Dowling. "From what I understand, the Tallahassee Police Department is handling that. I believe they've made arrangements to transport him to the Central Florida Zoo in Stanford where they've got veterinarians that are more qualified to treat ZigZag than I am."
It looks like everyone will be ok. As for ZigZag who will now be confined to a zoo after this incident, he will have a little remembrance of his momentary freedom courtesy of a young boy named Nick Ammons. Young Nick was washing dishes at his family's diner when he saw a zebra walking through the parking lot. To show proof to his friends that there really was a zebra on the parking lot, Nick decided to take a video of ZigZag on his phone. The video can now be found in YouTube.

from dream to reality
This post will be sort of related to the book called "The Pearl" by John Steinbeck. The reason why it is related to the book is because it is about this poor kid named Kino and his family and how they gat a better life after finding a pearl. So, in this post you will read where I would live, my life in the dream, and other things.
In my dream I would like to live in a 2 story house in L.A. My job would be to create video games on mobile and console. In order me to have a nice 2 story house I would need to make a lot of successful games, that way I can use the money towards the payments of the house and have a mini side job to earn extra money. In order for me to become a game creator I will need to excel in math. The reason why is because if I become a graphic designer I would need to make the view of the world in the game look appealing and able to fit on any sized TV screen. Some obstacles that other people and I may encounter are the difficulties of some of the exams and that the sort of math that we will have to learn will be very confusing and hard to learn.

"The first day" summary (9-19-16)
The short story, "The First Day," by Edward P. Jones takes place in a very poor city somewhere in New York or New Jersey during the 1950s. It tells the story of a girl (does not give a name in the story), who is about to experience her first day of Kindergarten in a not-so-good school. (Now I feel that, that was a bit to rushed so, you will have the option to read the longer summary or you can just stop reading now. Up to you)
Well now that you know all the stuff that was in the first part of the summary, I don't need to repeat myself. Anyway, here is the longer version. The story is mainly about this girl going to Kindergarten for the first time. Before all that I need to tell you this. The mom does not have an education. Like all parents, they want the best for their children so the mom would want her daughter to go to a good school. Now back over to the girl going to kinder. When she and her mom finally arrived at the good school in the neighborhood, Seaton Elementary, they got rejected. The only reason why was because they lived on a street that is best know for poverty and that they live to far from the school. Now, they have to walk to another school, Walker-Jones. This was a very bad school compared to Seaton Elementary. Once they arrived there, the mom needed to fill out a form which she had to fill out in order to let her daughter in the school. But, the problem is she had no education so she can't fill it out. She decided to let the women read it to her. When she was asked for help, she seemed proud that she was the smarter one. Towards the end it describes that the forms have been filled out, the girl goes to Kindergarten, and that even though there are a lot of screaming going on she can only hear her mother's footsteps. Which I think it means that she cares a lot for her mother.
